Google Reviews Background
Bond Vet, or more specifically the veterinarians at the Bed-Stuy location, are truly partners in your pet's health. I want to thank Dr. Jasmine Jones, Dr. Marlen Leon, and Dr. Miriam Saleh. Keylie was seen by each of them at different stages of her terminal illness, and each was exceptionally compassionate, responsive, and focused on Keylie's health. Dr. Jasmine Jones: was the first to suspect Keylie had heart disease, and ordered a Cardiopet proBNP test after listening to Keylie's heart sounds. The result was very indicative of severe heart disease, at 1,188 pmol/L (>270 is indicative), and Dr. Jones urged me to take Keylie to a cardiologist. I did just that, and The Animal Cardiology Center said there were "no" signs of heart disease and said no cardio follow-ups were needed in the next 1-2 years. My only "negative" feedback for Bond Vet is that I wish Dr. Jones had pushed back on this response from TACC, because it was incompatible with such an extremely high level of BNP. Bond had already ruled out most of the non-cardiac causes of elevated BNP, such as liver disease or hyperthyroidism. I didn't realize this disconnect until a year later. I don't fault Bond for missing this, since even in human medicine it's uncommon for a PCP to question a specialist when they unambiguously say a patient does not have an illness specific to their specialty. Dr. Marlen Leon: when I brought Keylie back to Bond a year later in response to worsening asthma, she re-checked proBNP and performed chest x-rays. It was no longer questionable: Keylie very likely had heart failure, and Dr. Leon called/texted me to ensure I knew how urgent this now was, and suggested I immediately bring Keylie back for more specific tests. I appreciate that she reached out urgently like this; I took Keylie to VERG that same afternoon, after Bond's testing confirmed Keylie had fluid accumulation in her lungs. VERG confirmed the heart failure diagnosis. ✨Dr. Miriam Saleh:✨ never in my life have I seen more of a "cat person" and I will continue bringing all of my feline companions to her. It is particularly obvious she truly cares about cats. Here are some examples: - during visits, while talking to you, she'll start cleaning the inside of your cat's ears while still gathering info from you on what prompted the visit (I've seen many vets, and none have done this before) - Keylie's appetite was incredibly finnicky in her final few months, and Dr. Saleh was always quick to fill prescriptions for things like Mirataz (appetite stimulant), Cerenia (anti-nausea), and a borderline ridiculous number of different prescription foods (Keylie would love something once or twice, then never touch it again). All in a convenient online portal, all shipped to home. - on multiple occasions she set aside time for last-minute appointments for things like bloodwork or additional x-rays/tests - she will politely but firmly/clearly tell you when you're doing something that isn't in your cat's best interests - several follow ups that normally would have taken place at VERG were instead done at Bond, which Keylie definitely appreciated - it's a much quieter and less stressful place to be. - she wears a sweater that has 9 cats on it, each labeled with a name. Turns out they are her cats. (forgive me if it was more/less than 9, I think it was 9 lol) When I canceled an upcoming appointment after Keylie passed away, Dr. Saleh called the following morning to share her condolences. To say that I was a blubbering mess during that 90 second phone call is an understatement. I appreciate that she took the time to call, especially knowing it'd be a very sad call. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Is Bond Vet cheap? No. Is it worth it? YES. You get what you pay for. In this case, a responsive team of compassionate vets who also have an easy-to-use online portal for stuff like prescription meds/foods, medical records, appointments, etc. Thank you for working to make my best friend's final months as comfortable as possible. 🥲
